Porterhouse Records artist C.E. Lane, has wrapped up tracking and mixing of his debut full length at Gourmet Sound. The journeyman singer/songwriter and former frontman of Loud Lucy has put together a dynamic 11 song debut that straddles the line between alt country and good old American rock and roll. Filling out the studio line for the record is Zander Schloss (Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros, Low and Sweet Orchestra) and venerable guitar-picker Matt Cartsonis (Warren Zevon, Glen Campbell). The album is due this fall so check www.porterhouse101.com for early preview tracks.

After twenty years of touring and releasing records with Pennywise, Jim Lindberg has started a new band straight out of Hermosa Beach. The Black Pacific is a brand new band with a fresh line up and an album filled with ten powerful and heartfelt songs. Jim hit up Gourmet Sound to master their self titled debut which hits on September 14 on SideOneDummy Records. They recently posted two new songs on their website. “The System” and “When it’s Over.” The whole album sounds amazing and has Jim's trademark stamp on it. Longtime Pennywise fans will love this record, we are grateful to the Black Pacific and SideOneDummy for trusting us to put the final touches on what is going to be a smash hit.
Just wanted to let you all know about an amazing act that have taken up a Gourmet residence to track and mix an E.P. Year of the Dragon features Rodcore and Dirty Walt of Fishbone on vocals and the tracking line up is filled out by Dubber on guitar, Norwood (Fishbone) on bass and Kerim Imes on the trap kit. The guys are in the midst of creating a 5 song E.P. that will be released this summer. Entitled "Five Fingers of Def" the release features a sound that falls somewhere between Bad Brains and Sly Stone. Be sure to check our the Year Of The Dragon Facebook page for more info on the guys and their upcoming shows. These guys know how to bring it!
The Gourmet U67 loves it some Dirty Walt!

Dubber, Dirty Walt, Rodcore, and Norwood chillin' in the G-Control.

The band in question is The Sheds a new outfit from the San Fernando Valley. Time was booked to cut drums for the tracks but upon seeing the vintage guitar collection the band was heard to say "we came for the drums but we're staying for the guitars!"
We always wanted to say we were big in Japan and now we can. The new Better Luck Next Time L.P. entitled "A Lifetime of Learning" which was tracked and mixed at Gourmet, has been released in Japan on In Ya Face Records and has shot up the charts to the #2 sales position. We are stoked for the band and the label at the great response the new record has received over there. Look for the release stateside in the spring.
Fender has launched a new Amp system G-DEC3 that allows musicians to play along with their favorite guitarists tones and tracks. Greg Hetson's signature SG tone is featured on the amp, and tracks were recorded at Gourmet for inclusion on the new product. Brooks Wackerman of Bad Religion and Zander Schloss of Circle Jerks also participated in creating the Hetson tracks that are featured in the amp's software patches. The product was a hit at the recent NAMM show in Los Angeles with every available G-DEC3 station at the Fender booth occupied by a guitarist trying out the new technology.

Gourmet's mastering genius Michael Hateley, has just completed re-mastering sessions for So. Cal punk heros The Vandals. Up for reworking were the bands first E.P. "Peace Through Vandalism as well as the now classic "When In Rome Do As The Vandals". Both releases were given a brush up to todays standards without compromising the integrity of the original masters. Look for the re-releases soon on a new imprint called Chi Com headed by none other than head Vandal Joe Escalante. Thanks to the band for trusting the re-mastering process to Gourmet Sound.

Our little baby has grown up, Gourmet Sound the project studio created by punk legend Greg Hetson (Bad Religion, Circle Jerks) and producer Steve Kravac (MXPX, Less Than Jake, Pepper) has gone public. After using the studio since 2005 as a private facility, 2009 marks the debut of a new option for bands and musicians, one that is affordable and where finished product sounds amazing! Welcome one and all, we look forward to serving you.
Gourmet Sound has just completed a huge purchase that is going to make life better immediately. We have taken delivery of a brand new Digidesign Pro Tools 8 HD3 Accel rig and a new Mac Pro computer. Our digital workstation is now cutting edge and this means easy transitions from other rooms when you book Gourmet for Mixing or Overdubbing. It also means lightning speed and 128 tracks of audio at any given time... awesome!
Well this is probably one of the most exciting purchases we have ever made. Gourmet has just thrown down for a vintage Neumann U67 tube microphone. It is in great shape, and more importantly sounds absolutely huge. We have had the mic authenticated by our friend Charlie Bolois (Beck and Tom Petty's tech) at Vertigo Recording Services, and it's all original including the power supply. This is going to take vocals and overdubs of all sorts to the ultimate level! How excited are we about this addition? Enough to give the mic it's own page at our website! Special thanks to Ryan McGuire at Vintage King Audio in Detroit for helping us find the right transducer to make your recording dreams come true. We are very grateful for his help on this purchase so chalk up another one for the Motor City!
